Is the Information Reliable? (Authority/Credibility)

Identify the credentials of the author(s) and the publication to establish the authority and credibility of the information. Ask yourself the following:

  • Who is the author/producer of the information?
  • What are the credentials of the author/producer of the information?
  • Did the information come from an "authoritative" source?
  • How permanent is the information?
  • Also consider the following questions for web sites:

  • Is there information on the sponsoring body?
  • Is there contact information?
  • Is the information stable?
