BROADCASTING is a term taken from agriculture. Originally, it referred to casting, or throwing, seeds over a large area. Thus, the combination of the words Broad - casting. Today it refers to casting information over an enormous area; sometimes over the entire world. (i.e. News of the death of Princess Diana was broadcast all over the world.)
