Narrowcasting

It refers to information, programming, or advertising that is directed to a highly specific segment of the public. (i.e. Networks engage in narrowcasting when they take into consideration who will be watching programs from Sesame Street to Dateline to ESPN sports programming. They do not intend to catch the entire viewing public, only a narrow segment of it.
